The aim of this research is to understand the application of biodata as dynamic feedback into virtual reality horror experiences to personalise the experience based on a user’s response to fear-based stimuli, where dynamic refers to the data being used in real time to affect the mechanics of the experience. This includes creating a unique experience for everyone by learning the individual’s fears and exposing them to these fears within a controlled and immersive experience. Breaking this down into sectors compiles a series of research goals of which to be achieved throughout this PhD. These sectors include the understanding of biodata and its relation to fear, the process of adapting the experiences in relation to the direction of narrative applied, as well as the implementation of the experiences within virtual reality and the approach to immersion and design from a performance perspective.
